"There’s no point to a guy yelling, “Hey sexy baby” at me out of the passenger window of a car as it speeds past. Even if I was into creepy misogynists and wanted to give him my number, I couldn’t. The car didn’t even slow down. But that’s okay, because he wasn’t actually hitting on me. The point wasn’t to proposition me or chat me up. The only point was to remind me, and all women, that our bodies are his to stare at, assess, comment on, even touch. “Hey sexy baby” is the first part of a sentence that finishes, “this is your daily message from the patriarchy, reminding you that your body is public property”."

we Americans act really cocky and assholey about freedom to hide the fact that our government is crumbling and nobody is actually free so please give us this one day to be annoying about it

Kinda feel bad for poor Americans now. A bit like the asshole kid who you realise is only acting like that cuz their parents are cruel and neglectful.

That’s painfully accurate.

Hey I saw your post about the thing with men. I'm lucky I can't recall any experience of feeling threatened by guys. And I need to remind myself that others aren't so lucky. I just try to put in perspective that the men who do misogynistic things are shaped by patriarchal society, and the ones who do things that aren't like, RAPE serious, can change. My friend used to call girls sluts all the time, and now he gets really pissed at guys who do.

You are very lucky! And I completely agree, boys can grow up and change. And that rant was all about society  and how it has bred such sittyness in how people treat one another, and I’m just fed up with it all. I’d really love to see change and I want to live in a world where gender doesn’t dictate how others see you and all that

Because I am sick and tired of being afraid of men.

Because I want to be able to walk to the grocery store without feeling like I need to be ready to defend myself.

Because I want to be able to smile at people I pass on the street without worrying about men’s reactions.

Because I want to feel comfortable in my curvaceous body and wear clothes that make me feel pretty without fear of being raped.

Because I am so sick of hearing rape jokes.

Because the mere thought of trying to flirt makes me want to burst into tears.

Because I want to be able to have friendships with guys without them expecting something more.

Because I shouldn’t have to walk on eggshells when I discuss feminism.

Because I don’t like it when being opinionated gets me insults, while any doofus with a dick would be praised for the same thing.

Because I want to be able to cook a meal without being told my place is in the kitchen.

Because I am constantly told to be ladylike and graceful.

Because my lovelife should not be the first thing people ask about.

Because my body is mine and it is not public property.

Because tattoos and piercings do not make me any less of a woman.

Because sometimes I like putting on makeup and painting my nails, and this does not make me a slave to the patriarchy.

Because I like how everything feels like silk against my freshly shaved legs.

Because having a “beauty routine” soothes me.

Because doing things that I feel are a part of taking care of myself shouldn’t be seen as something I’m doing for anyone else.

Because other girls stare and laugh at me from across the room when I am sitting alone.

Because I constantly hear “I don’t need feminism” or the term “Feminazi”.

Because I should be allowed to want a significant other without people assuming it stems from insecurity.

Because I have the right to a dignified life as a human being.

did she get a haircut

does it make anyone else uncomfortable that they changed her entire race because she went out with Ron in their sixth year
isn’t that what happened???
they changed a character’s entire race because she as a character became important and relevant for a short amount of time

Wow.

Umm, no. They did not change her entire race simply because she dated Ron. Actually think about it. Up until the sixth book, she was a background character that was only ever mentioned in passing, so she wasn’t given a physical description. Then in the sixth book, Lavender was finally described, as having ‘pale skin and dirty blonde hair’. Well, the first few Harry Potter movies came out before the Half-Blood Prince book did, so the casting directors did what they wanted with the character.
Another thing, the Lavender Brown from the first few movies only appeared in the first few movies. Lavender didn’t even appear in the 4th and 5th movies, because again, she was a background character, and wasn’t vital to the story. The only reason her race was changed was because a physical description was finally in the books, and it didn’t fit what the directors had, so they had to recast her. It was not because she dated Ron.

Somebody spread this shit because I refuse to have this turn into some social justice bullshit
